Author Guidelines

Guidelines for the submission of articles
The articles must be unpublished (not previously published), and cannot be in the editorial evaluation process in other journals.
Thus, to improve the quality and transparency of health research, submitted manuscripts must follow the guidelines of the Equator Network, depending on the type of study:
•Types of quality improvement studies; see the Revised Standards for Excellence in Quality Improvement Reporting guidance (checklist).
• Randomized clinical trial using the CONSORT guide (checklist).
•Systematic reviews and meta-analyses, use the PRISMA guide (checklist).
•Review protocol, employ PRISMA-P (checklist).
•In other types of review (meta-synthesis, scoping review, mapping review, general review, integrative review, among others), use the PRISMA guideline extensions (checklist).
•Observational studies in epidemiology, consult the STROBE guide (checklist )
•Qualitative studies, the COREQ guide (checklist) is recommended.
•Quasi-experimental studies, the TREND reporting guide (checklist) is recommended.
•Essays/Articles for reflection, the guidelines of the Revista Chilena de Enfermería (checklist).
•Case report, the guidelines of the Revista Chilena de Enfermería (checklist).

Use of inclusive language
In this sense, it is proposed to use inclusive language from the point of view of gender, according to the developed discourse.
It is suggested to use the periphrasis to make the text more fluid ('Nursing' instead of 'the nurses', 'the people involved' instead of 'those involved').
The expressions expressed in the manuscripts must be respectful of each way of life, avoiding prejudices, stereotypes or stigmatizing assumptions regarding class, national origin, sexual orientation/identity, abilities, ethnic origin, among others.
Anonymization of manuscripts
Submitted manuscripts must not include information about the authors in the body of the text. This information must be registered on the platform in the metadata section.
The text of the articles must be anonymized, which implies that self-citations must be reflected as (Author, year) both in the body of the text and in the list of references. Self-citations should be included in the list of references, in order to prevent the authors from being identified in the evaluation.
Check for matches and plagiarism
It is suggested to check that the references used in the article have been duly cited in accordance with the Vancouver standards. This journal uses a review system for the academic integrity of the writings and plagiarism detection through the Turnitin software.

STRUCTURE OF MANUSCRIPTS
•When uploading the document in Comments to the Editor, the reasons for publishing in the Journal are described.
•Regardless of the section, all articles is structured as follows:
Letter of originality:
•The authors must accept and sign the Declaration of Originality (at the end of the web page).
•These people will be acknowledged as authors of the work when they sign the letter (without subsequent inclusions or exclusions).
•Put the name of the Letter of Originality in the file, and identify it as "Letter of originality" in the article component when uploading it to the platform.
Front Page:
•Authors must complete the Front page
•Put the front page name in the file, and identify it as "Front Page" in the article component when uploading it to the platform.
•Title: The title must account for the work and not exceed 20 words. In Spanish, English, and Portuguese languages.
•Authors: Name, affiliation, ORCID of each author, specifying the direct contribution of each one in the preparation of the article with CRediT.
•Abstract: It must be written (not by independent items) in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Contain objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions; 250 written words. The abstract must be in all three languages.
•Keyword: At the end of the abstract, a minimum of five keywords that identify the content must be specified. Terms from the MeSH thesaurus should be used, as well as consult an edition in Spanish Descriptors of Health Sciences (DeCS).
•Financing: Indicate if it had financial support, indicating project and assigned number if applicable.
•Acknowledgments: Optional, it can be to people or institutions.
•Conflicts of interest: The authors must disclose any possible conflict of interest, including political and/or financial interests associated with patents or property, the supply of suppliers of materials and/or supplies and equipment used in the study.
Main document:
•Put the name of the Main Document in the file, and identify it as "Article Text" in the article component when uploading it to the platform.
•It is uploaded as the Main Document on the platform, with a structure according to the type of article.
•Anonymized.
•As for writing: single-spaced, font Times New Roman – 12.
•Tables, figures, and illustrations with titles and sources; must be inserted in the text and a maximum of six in total.
•References: Indicate the sources used to carry out the research work, with the minimum number of references according to the type of article. Presentation according to Elsevier Vancouver. References must be unformatted, if using a referencer, remove the formatting.

1. ORIGINAL RESEARCH ARTICLES:
They are unpublished articles corresponding to the results of original scientific research. The main document must have a maximum length of 5,000 words (excluding abstract and references) and contain a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 50 references. According to the editorial decision, if they are more minor investigations, they may be published as Brief Originals with a reduced length. The abstract is organized into an introduction, objective, methodology, results, and conclusions.
The main document is structured as follows:
•Introduction: It must contain a clear description of the object of study, problematization, and objective of the investigation, with the reasons that justify its development.
•Methodology: Indicate theoretical reference. The type of study, paradigm, place, and time was carried out. Indicate the obtaining of the informed consent of the participants. In addition, you must present a declaration of approval of the project with the corresponding Ethics Committee Certificate number. Quantitative design: definition of the study population. Inclusion and exclusion criteria. Sampling. Instrument (validation), materials, and data collection strategy. Describe the data collection technique, statistical methods used, and the level of statistical significance previously established to attribute to the results. Indicate the type of analysis and software used. Qualitative design: participating subjects. Inclusion and exclusion criteria. Sample design. Creation and validation of the instrument and information collection strategy. Describe the data collection process and type of analysis used according to reference and in stages. Refer to rigorous criteria applied.
•Results: They must be presented clearly and concisely. Tables and figures should be used only if necessary to obtain a sufficient understanding of the data, numbered according to their appearance, specifying the title and source of the data. In the case of the interviewees' stories, place them in quotation marks and italics.
•Discussion: The discussion's purpose is to interpret the results delivered and their relationship with knowledge. It must indicate what the contribution to the area of ​​the study investigated is. Information given anywhere in the text must be cited. In the end, place limitations of the study.
•Conclusions: The stated objective must be answered, providing a summary of the main findings; highlighting contributions to Nursing.

2. ORIGINAL REVIEW ARTICLES:
Exhaustive following PRISMA criteria (checklist).
Review articles correspond to a type of secondary research and systematization of the recovery of the documents to be studied. These are framed in a protocol of search, selection, analysis, and presentation of the data obtained in various databases. This type of document, in its structure, must contain an introduction, methodology (identifying the type of review and analysis that was carried out, describing the criteria that were taken into account for it, reflected in a flowchart), results (including tables, diagrams, and figures), conclusions and references.
The document must have a maximum length of 7,500 words (excluding abstract and references) and contain a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 50 references. The abstract is organized into an introduction, objective, methodology, results, and conclusions.

3. OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:
•Reflection articles: It is the result of a reflective investigation by the author in relation to a specific topic, defines his/her position, argues it with pros and cons supported by original sources; and presents a conclusion in accordance with what has been proposed. The abstract is organized into objective, development and conclusions; and the main document has the sections of introduction, development and conclusions. The main document must have a maximum length of 3,000 words (excluding references), and contain a maximum of 20 references. (checklist)
•Case report: result of an integrative professional analysis related to health care management, derived from the clinical context; using standardized language of professional practice. The abstract is organized into objective, development and conclusions; and the main document has the sections of introduction, development and conclusions. The main document must have a maximum length of 3,000 words (excluding references), and contain a maximum of 20 references. (checklist).
•Letters to the Editor: (temporarily not received) are the interpretation, criticism, and analysis of documents published in the journal, considered by the Editorial Committee a contribution to the discussion of the subject by the scientific community. With a maximum of 1,000 words.
In addition, the editor may request Thematic Updates that respond to a professional or disciplinary topic of interest.

ETHICAL ASPECTS:
If the publication considers human beings, particularly during experiments, the procedures carried out must be indicated in accordance with the standards of the Ethics Committee that endorsed the work and the Declaration of Helsinki of 1975 (updated 2024).
Informed consent and approval letter from the Ethics Committee are required, as well as its name.
Guidelines from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors published as “Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals” (formerly Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals).
GUIDELINES FOR THE PREPARATION OF REFERENCES
References according to Elsevier Vancouver, and at least 50% must be from the last five years.
Superscript without using parentheses after punctuation without spacing. For example: Nursing.^1–3
Sequential references must be separated by a hyphen ^1-5 and when alternating, separated by a comma.^1,3-5

ERRATA AND RETRACTIONS
•Errata: is one or more corrections by the author(s) to improve critical errors in the article that affect its integrity. Only major corrections will be published. In the context that minor spelling or grammatical errors, for example, must be resolved in the approval of the layout.
•Retraction: is when the integrity of an already published article is affected by serious situations, lack of ethics in research, analysis errors, reporting of results, among others. The already published article will be marked as "RETRACTED" on each page, and a retraction statement will be published when the Editorial Team considers it relevant.
Additionally, the following are considered to be Addenda (information that is necessary for a better understanding of the article and that has been known after its publication), Editorial Note (informs about the opening of an evaluation process of the article due to suspicions), and Editorial Note of Concern (Editorial Committee makes a statement expressing well-founded concerns about the integrity of an article).
