Muscle force evaluation provides fundamental information for the diagnosis,prediction and treatment of neuro-muscular and muscle-skeletal disorders in theupper limb. Current evaluation techniques are based on manual methods withambiguous valuation scales that depend more of the muscular capacity of theexaminer than that of the person under evaluation.It is presented in this work the design of a dynamometer for the evaluation of theforces exerted by the motive muscles of the arm. The proposed device aims to thedevelopment of an objective methodology for the assessment of the functionalcapacity of the upper limb. The design consists in a simple portable device withan automated data acquisition system. At the same time, it allows the necessarycontact between the examiner and the evaluated person during the maneuvers offixation, stabilization and muscle tone verification.
