Abstract

This paper proposes an agenda that contains three research areas destined to study the international reality of Latin American countries, or Latin America as a whole, from a global perspective, the only appropriate perspective to deal with the external links of the region in a world increasingly interdependent and complex. These areas are: Latin America in triangular relationships; the transformation of the intra-Latin American international stratification system and its regional and global projections, and; Latin America and the New World Order. In short, we argue that the proposed proposal gives plausibility to the thesis that the traditional model of analysis of the inter-American system is obsolete and that the future of that system can only be studied within a global perspective.
