Abstract

Beyond the denunciation regarding the international subordination to which developing countries are subjected, the question arises: is it possible to visualize changes of a certain magnitude in terms of their role within the world economic system? To advance in the understanding of the present, it is necessary to return to History. The first part of this work is devoted to this. Starting from an overview of the changes that occurred during the crisis at the level of relations between North and South, the second part presents the lines of force of the process that led to the outbreak of the old periphery. On this basis, finally, in the third part an analysis is carried out aimed at highlighting the difficulties and insufficiencies faced by the main theoretical paradigms of development and underdevelopment.
