Abstract

This paper presents some comments and reflections, from a comparative point of view, on the approaches to realism and political models of the world order, pointing out their differences and areas of approximation and convergence. The purpose is to contribute to the elaboration of a global frame of reference, to which the main lines of the Latin American theoretical debate on the matter can be adequately linked. We argue that the consideration of global political models responds to their importance as a theoretical response of increasing sophistication to the realistic paradigm, by incorporating in the most appropriate way problems, actors and processes currently considered central in foreign policy agendas.
