The recessionary situation that has affected Uruguay for four years has hit hard the country's social fabric. Social and economic vulnerabilities have grown, and the instability of its closest partners, along with many other phenomena that we all remember, has negatively impacted its society. Economic growth is not enough to generate an improvement in the social scenario. There are multiple and very close examples of countries whose economies grew without improving their levels of social equality. However, shortly after the analysis of this recession situation is deepened, it helps us to visualize some more structural problems in Uruguayan society.
