Abstract

Communist China has not failed in its economic development. The current uprising in China is not intended to hide an alleged economic wreck. On the contrary, China's economic situation is excellent compared to what it was years or decades ago; its expansion has remained at the level of those countries that dictate the economic rhythm in the world; Few poor countries have made as much progress on such a broad economic front as communist China has. This is thanks to the fact that it carried out an important investment program, especially in the 1950s, which was focused on heavy industry, financing these investment expenses mainly thanks to public savings. Finally, a reference is made to “the economic aspects of Maoism” that relate ideology and economic development.
